The master-slave connection matrix: a tool for improving the simulation of switched RLC networks

The master-slave connection matrix (MSCM) concept and its application to the search of the state entered by switching power converters after forced commutation have been discussed by the author in two previous work. In this paper, it is shown that the MSCM can be used to improve the overall efficiency of numerical simulation of switched RLC networks. The analysis of forced commutations in switched RLC networks including switching devices modelled as piece-wise linear (PWL) components and a criterion based on the use of the MSCM to establish the minimum accuracy required in the calculation of free commutation instants are discussed in the paper. An application to the analysis of a ZCT-PWM boost power converter is illustrated.
