High-index contrast, low-voltage lithium niobate modulators

Y-cut thin film lithium niobate optical modulators with V_π.L of 4V.cm are demonstrated by making high index contrast waveguides of lithium niobate on silicon substrates. Preliminary high speed measurement results are shown.
