Spatial anisotropy of electro- and nonlinear optical effects in the LiNbO3 and KTP crystals: Calculation and experiment

We report the spatial analysis of nonlinear optical effects in potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) and electrooptic effect in lithium niobate (LiNbO₃) crystals. Calculations of the electrooptical anisotropy in LiNbO₃ are supported by experimental measurements verifying the directional dependence of the electrooptical properties in this crystal. Employing the spatial 3D-analysis to the indicative surfaces the extreme directions characterizing by maximal magnitudes of these effects are found. A good agreement between the experiment and calculations confirms correctness of relevant approaches.
