Mailloux: The features of commanding interest in Dr. Hering's paper are the “pinch” and “stretch” phenomena, both discovered by him; and the difficulty of explaining these phenomena by the existing theories of electromagnetic fields is what has led Dr. Hering to urge the revision of these theories.
