Multi-period lagged effect of multinational corporations' technology spillover

Based on the literature review, the technology spillover mechanism can be concluded to four categories: demonstration-imitation effect, competition effect, correlation effect and training-flow effect. The technology spillover is always hysteretic. On the basis of multi-period lagged effect of multinational corporations' technology spillover, the paper used panel data and regression method, analyzed the effect of multinational corporations' patent application or invention patent application on Chinese enterprises' patent output during the lag period of 0-3 years. The results show that the characteristics of multinational corporations' technology spillover are different at different stages. The demonstration-imitation effect and the flow effect of human capital gradually weaken, exhibiting L-shape. The competition effect and the correlation effect first increase and then decrease, exhibiting U-shape.
