Characterization Of Laser Zone Texture

The use of laser zone texture (LZT) for creation of a "landing" zone on rigid magnetic disks is becoming a widely used technique in the storage industry. While volume shipments of LZT disks still remain well below that of other textured products, the potential for growth of this product remains high. As with any emerging manufacturing process, issues of control are important and can determine the success of a program. LZT presents unique challenges in this area.
