Safety and Ground Fault Protection in Electrical Systems

Safety is of prime importance in electrical system designs. The National Electrical Code (NEC) serves as the primary and practical safeguard of human beings and property from the hazards relating to the use of electricity [1], However, sound engineering judgment and practices are needed to achieve ultimate safety and protection to persons from electric shock. Therefore, safety against electric shock should be treated as an integral part of and should be thoroughly incorporated into all electrical designs.
