Phase shifting diagram of the azimuthally magnetized coaxial ferrite waveguide

The concepts for differential phase characteristics, area of phase shifter operation and phase shifting diagram of the coaxial ferrite waveguide with azimuthal magnetization for the normal TE₀₁ mode, are advanced. A special iterative procedure, using the roots of the structure's characteristic equation, derived by complex Kummer and Tricomi functions, is developed and applied to count the characteristics mentioned - the dependence of the normalized in a suitable way differential phase shift Δβ̅ on the modulus of the off-diagonal ferrite permeability tensor element |α| with the normalized guide radius r̅₀ as parameter for a fixed value of the central switching conductor to guide radius ratio ρ. The computation of Δβ̅ at the two cut-off regimes at lower and higher frequencies, varying r̅₀, allows to trace the borderlines of the area in question. While the first of them is the well-known classical one, the second is specific for the configuration under study and is connected with its peculiar physical state in which the propagation in case of negative magnetization of the load ceases. The superposition of the characteristics and the area shaped results in the phase shifting diagram of interest.
