A novel technique for optimal placement of PMU with measurement redundancy and reliability

In this paper a heuristic based method is proposed. The power system is made completely observable by finding the strategic location for PMU's. The simultaneous optimization of minimum number of PMU and maximization of measurement redundancy are performed. Measurement redundancy is performed based on the reliability TESt. Results for IEEE14-bus, 30-bus, and New England 39-bus system were simulated and compared with existing technique.
