Detection of sport training effect on ultrasound velocity in tibia by automatic system

Ultrasound velocity value and its distribution in the sportsmen's tibia are determined in vivo using the special automatic scanning system. The device allows one to measure the velocity in 90 points of the anterio-internal part of tibia. All kinds of sport increase the average ultrasound velocity and the mineral content in comparison with the norm, but the average values do not reveal the beginning of overtraining. The high velocity value in the proximal part of the bone is found for decreased level of physical fitness and after injuries of knee or feet.
