All-optical logic controlled-NOT, AND, and OR gates employing electro-optic effect in PPLN

By employing electro-optic Pockels effect of periodically poled lithium niobate, two optical signals with orthogonal linear polarization states can be switched between each other, which is a novel mechanism to demonstrate polarization-based binary all-optical logic functions, such as the basic controlled-NOT, AND and OR gates. By exploiting these basic gates with other XOR and XNOR gates realized in our previous experiment, complicated Boolean calculation should be expected.
