A novel scaling down dispersion of microstructure optical fibers to near-zero value for broadband communication systems

This paper presents microstructure optical fiber (MOF) for tailoring nearly zero ultraflattened dispersion and low confinement losses in a wide range of wavelengths. The finite-element method with perfectly matched layers boundary condition is used to investigate the guiding properties. It has been shown theoretically that it is possible to obtain nearly zero ultraflattened dispersion of 0.35 ps/nm/km in a wavelength range of 1.30 to 1.65 μm with low confinement losses of the order less than 10

dB/km within the entire band of interest from a fivering MOF.
