Simulation of grounding resistance with 70 by 70 feet grid

In this paper, the soil resistivity is measured using F. Wenner four-pole equal method near electrical and mechanical engineering (EME) academic building of the Institute Technology Brunei (ITB). The measured soil resistivities are used in the CYME GRD software to calculate the soil resistivities. After simulation, the rms errors between the measured and calculated resistivities are found to be 1.14% and 1.55% respectively. The grounding resistance is measured of the existing earthing system in different conditions near testing site. The lowest measured grounding resistances with and without salt (NaCl) are found to be 2.61Ω and 2.89Ω respectively. The CYME GRD software is again used to find the simulation results of 70 by 70 feet grid with four equal meshes. The simulation results of grounding resistance for different soil resistivities are found to be 1.01Ω and 0.38Ω respectively.
