Kinetic transformation graphs: a new kind of quasi bond graphs for applications in biology, medicine, soft sciences and management

Lumped models are often used in nonengineering fields like biology, medicine, socio-economy or management. We need thus graphical modelling methods adapted to systems in which the notion of energy is often irrelevant. Bond graphs (BG) are not suitable and a kinetic method, Forrester's system dynamics (1963) [FSD] is currently increasingly used in these applications. However, FSD may often produce very messy models. We present thus a new method generalising ideas from BG and FSD in a kinetic framework and providing simple and intuitive models.
