A discontinuous Galerkin framework for hybridizing VGFEM and FEM

In this paper, a hybrid finite element-vector generalized finite element method (FE-VGFEM) is developed by using discontinuous Galerkin method (DGM). The motivation behind this work is to develop a technique that takes advantage of positive attributes of each method. It is hoped that the hybrid method can be more efficient and accurate. The method is validated via simulation of wave scattering in waveguides with discontinuities and dielectric load.
