Current and future ITU-T PON systems and standards

Summary form only given. This paper summarizes the standardization of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) branch of the passive optical access network (PON) family, starting with B-PON, and continuing through G-PON and XG-PON. A brief overview of future directions is also included.
