Dynamic simulation research of hydrodynamic retarder in brake process

Hydrodynamic retarder research starts with impeller configuration. Dynamics and kinematics characters of sheaf fluid in hydrodynamic retarder were analyzed using shear fluid theories and fluid momentum law. Calculation formula of retarder brake force including oil charge and release process was deduced. The effect of oil charge and release process and oil temperature on retarder brake force was studied with practice retarder configuration data. Braking dynamic simulation model was set in SIMULINK-toolbox and computed vehicle speed and acceleration in representative road status, such as vehicle running in flat road or going down 15 degree long slope. Research of hydrodynamic retarder dynamic simulation has great instruction significance to optimal design hydrodynamic retarder.
