R&D trend of insulation diagnostic technology for power apparatus in Japan

In this paper, a brief introduction to recent R&D activities in Japan in the assessment of insulation condition based on detected signals accompanied by the insulation degradation, is followed by the life expectancy-oriented insulation diagnosis based on mechanism of degradation for various power apparatus including rotating machines, substation equipments and cables.
