On the minimum distance of certain cyclic codes

We characterize several classes of cyclic codes of length 2/sup m/-1 which have minimum distance three. We are mainly interested in codes with generator m/sub i/(x)m/sub j/(x), but we also treat the cases when the generator polynomial is a product of several polynomials m/sub i/(x).
