Metal Nanoparticle Chains as Light Couplers

We have studied metal nanoparticle chains for their efficiency in coupling light and thus as sub-diffraction limit waveguides by finite difference time domain simulations using realistic material parameters. To couple light to and from the metal nanoparticles, tapered waveguides have been designed.
