Molecular structure and dynamics of F8BT - correlation with opto-electronic properties

Semiconducting electroluminescent polymers have been the subject of several studies due to its great success on Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes (PLEDs) and the potential to be applied commercially on Photovoltaic Cells and Field Effect Polymer Transistor¹. However, fundamental points are still under development and need a better understood. Poly(9,9'-dioctylfluorene-co-benzothiadiazole) (F8BT) is currently one of the most promising material for use as active layers in polymeric electronic devices, such as polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) and the polymer field effect transistor (P-FET)². It is well known that both polymer structure and dynamics affects either the luminescence and transport properties of polymer material, making worthwhile to investigate them³. In this sense, we present a work on the correlation between molecular and the opto-electronic properties of F8BT as casting films.
