An accurate software model of a digital relay for use in off-line studies

A software model of a power system digital protection relay is added to an offline EMTP (EMTDC) program and is then subjected to the same waveforms as the actual relay. Its performance is measured against the performance of the actual relay and the accuracy of the model is assessed.
