Infrastructure lightning physico-probabilistic model

Unitary validations and a simplified infrastructure are presented to illustrate the potentialities of a workflow that allows to take into account uncertainties when studying lightning indirect effects on a system by the help of 3D Boundary Elements (BE). We first analyze, develop and compare BE soil and lightning impact models to a more usual Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) software. Next, BE MultiPort (MP) representation and port reduction are presented to reduce a complex problem when ports can be identified. Last, a coupling with OpenTURNS, (an uncertainty propagation software) is done and then, an illustration of a probabilistic analysis by modeling uncertainties on ports is given.
