Flux-weakening control of permanent magnet synchronous motor using leading angle

In order to expand the high speed operation range of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), a leading angle flux-weakening control method is presented in this paper. The angle offset of flux-weakening is gained by integrating the error of given index and calculation index, which is the utilization of motor's terminal voltage to the voltage of DC bus, and then a voltage loop is established to maintain the stability of flux-weakening system. In different speed region, the optimum d-axis and q-axis current command can be calculated according to the new electrical angle of PMSM. The method is suitable for flux-weakening control of any kind of PMSM. The results of simulation and experimentation demonstrate the feasibility of this strategy.
