The study on degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol by Pd catalyzed electrode modified with surfactants CTAB

Pd/PPy(CTAB)/Ti electrode was prepared by electrochemical deposition behaviors of composite membrane of surfactants CTAB and pyrrole. The results of CV revealed that Pd/PPy(CTAB)/Ti electrode can get hydrogen adsorption peak of −146.8mA at −500mV (vs. Hg/Hg2SO4). Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images revealed that Pd was deposited almost homogeneous particles on the PPy composite membrane modified with CTAB. The range of its size is from nanons to a few microns. An extended sheets formation can be seen on the tiny particle surfaces under high magnification. This structure has a good spatial extent. The dechlorination experimental results indicate that the removal efficiency of 2, 4-dichlorophenol reaches 99.0% and the current efficiency reaches 28.1% when the dechlorination current and time are 5mA and 80min respectively on Pd/PPy(CTAB)/Ti electrode prepared at optimum conditions. The increase of the initial concentration of 2,4-DP has no influence on the removal efficiency.
