GIS-based spatial analysis of population density patterns in China 1953–2000

Geographers, demographers and other scholars have a sustaining interest in China's population distribution. The research is based on China's GIS data sets of population census in 1953, 1964, 1982, 1990 and 2000. The first part of this study is to analyze the population density patterns by various spatial analysis methods and explain possible influencing factors. The second part analyzes population growth rates in six periods of 1953-2000.
