Time-Reversal Method for Coexistence Between Ultrawideband Radios and IEEE802.11a Systems

This paper investigates the coexistence issue between pulsed ultrawideband (UWB) radio devices and the existing narrow band IEEE802.11a systems by using the time-reversal method. In this study, the time reversal is applied to the pulsed UWB system. Based on the statistical path loss model, we compared the time-reversal UWB transmission scheme with the traditional UWB scheme. The comparing results show that the time reversal is a potential candidate for pulsed UWB radios to coexist with more IEEE802.11a devices at a reduced separation distance while without causing dangerous interference.
