Feature extraction for 3D face recognition system

Recent face recognition strategies tend to solve the face recognition problem from a 3D perspective. In this paper, we investigate a new 3D face image acquisition and capturing system, where we demonstrate our test-bed and the initial results for 3D face image feature characteristic and extraction. In our test-bed, we utilize the Dimensional Imaging's standard DI3D system which is designed to capture high definition 3D surface images of the human face. The work is considered to be the first stage of a multi stage project on 3D face image recognition.
