Developmental perspective: posture and movement control

Discusses two conflicting views of motor development, one based on the hierarchical theory (Forssberg, 1985) and the other on the dynamical system theory (Thelen, 1984). Based on experimental evidence on landing from a jump in normal and clumsy children, it is proposed that both points of view can be incorporated into a unified model that addresses concerns of both theories.
