Towards new business models in the energy sector based on Software-as-a-Service-Utilities and value-added services

The energy sector currently faces challenges in carbon dioxide reduction, energy efficiency, new forms of energy production and distribution which includes energy supply by former energy consumers. E-mobility is another interesting part of the game. New driver systems, battery, billing, and smart grid technologies are setting the stage for tomorrow's Electric Ecosystem. This paper highlights on the one hand the business model for specified stakeholders in the energy market and on the other hand the adoption of state-of-the art ICT solutions. An essential part of this paper focuses on business models, which are based on the results of the ongoing project COIN, which aims at cross-organizational business collaboration and interoperability and is funded by the European Community.
