Optimization of bicycle seat height for individual physical properties

This paper presents an automation system that seeks the best seat height of a road racer against rider's physical properties. Conventional positioning method is depending on the feelings of riding even professional cyclists because it is difficult to evaluate bicycle position considering the rider's physical properties. Then this paper firstly defined the evaluation criteria based on rider's electromyography by using Principal components analysis method and made a control law of seat height based on a theory of Fuzzy inference. The experimental results derived the control law we had constructed in our previous work experimental results are composed without considering muscular fatigue, and then the experimental results are different from the results we expected. We consider the result of experiments and discuss the the countermeasure against the results.
