The Key to Enhance Teaching and Learning Effectiveness: Innovation of Vibration Theory Using MATLAB

The aim is to give rise to the teacher's attention by introducing some examples programmed using MATLAB which have arouse the students efficiency and enthusiasm in the courses of vibration theory, and if teachers want to improve the level of teaching and learning effectiveness. These examples are based on some real model or question that can enhance student's communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem solving skills. The first example is to introduce the application of Fourier transformation for better understanding the concept of Fourier integration and the second is an example of destruction of engineering structure known as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Form this model, students are required to have a fundamental understanding in basic science and math courses and faculty must introduce and engage students with real applied problems that incorporate research, analysis, and class presentation, so that to stimulate student's critical thinking and problem solving skills. This exposure to MATLAB programming will also make it feasible for students to understand the behavior of an engineering system.
