A distributed web conferencing architecture to meet inorganic training needs of an enterprise

There is an enormous amount of dependency on the training philosophy, methodology and its execution in an enterprise to consolidate and enrich man power skills. It depends on how well an enterprise is able to train its employees to utilize the same in an optimized manner and gain advantage in today's competitive environment. It is challenging to train the entire workforce due to the geographical spread. Use of technology comes as a savior in this scenario and numerous learning management systems and web conferencing solutions are playing a vital role. In order to make distance education effective, it is important to have the right blend of technology and architecture implementation based on the specific need and characteristics of an enterprise. This paper evaluates and provides a balanced view of existing popular web conferencing architectures. Finally, we investigate and advocate a scalable distributed optimized architecture that can meet unstructured training needs of employees in an enterprise whose workforce is spread across diverse geographic locations.
