Batch cleaning with water containing emulsified organic solvent. A new and hybrid process concept designed for cost effective bipolar cleaning with low VOC emissions

Solvent emulsion cleaning is one of many new developments as an alternative to post-solder cleaning with CFC's and other ozone depleting solvents. It uses water containing small amounts of organic solvent in a dispersed form. This wash composition, followed by rinsing with purified water, yields a very high bipolar (removing both polar and non-polar residues) cleaning efficiency and significantly reduced VOC emissions, when compared to cleaning with some of the true semi-aqueous processes where 100 percent solvent is used as wash solution.
