Comparative review and analyses of tools for distance learning

Using media directly influences teaching communication and its effects in relation to knowledge acquisition. Words are still the main source of communication in the teaching process but not in the form of monolog and teacher's individual speech but in the form of dialog. Pictures are being used more and more in order to transmit knowledge and information to students. This kind of teaching is more efficient because it is more understandable, especially when abstract content has to be concretized. In the field of education certain aims and tasks are being given and they are best realized through student-teacher and pupil-medium communication. By using computers in the teaching process students are given more qualitative presentation of the teaching material. Pictures are valuable source of information, they offer details, thoughts, ideas and they make possible experiments that would be difficult to describe otherwise. This kind of education is becoming more obvious and convinsing in comparison to the traditional one. This paper deals with this new teaching approach, as well as with the ways it should be realized. Basic characteristics and the ways of handling program packages will be considered as well.
