The measurement of complex reflection coefficient by means of an arbitrary four-port network and a variable attenuator

This paper presents a new method of measuring complex reflection coefficient using an arbitrary four-port network and a variable attenuator. The model and the basic equations of the measurement system are described. The relation between the readings of the power meters and the reflection coefficient measured are derived. The results are discussed as well.
