A high density and precise streamer cable digitizer for marine seismic exploration system

A reliable high density and precise streamer cable digitizer for marine seismic exploration system is introduced. In this digitizer, there are total 16 data acquisition channels each of which can be connected to hydrophones directly. Analog signals are converted into digital data by 24-bit high precise ΔΣ ACDs which is controlled by FPGA in real time. For quality control (QC) testing online, there are also 24-bit high precise DACs in the digitizer. The digitizer meets the requirements of marine seismic exploration, after all the specifications are well tested. The noise of the digitizer is 1.2μV. The total harmonic distortion (THD) is better than -115dB and the common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) reaches to 110dB. Finally, system dynamic range specification reaches to 120dB. Scheme of real time system control and remote synchronization is also designed and realized in the digitizer based on architecture of serial concurrent bus which is implemented in FPGA. With little modification, this streamer digitizer can be used in land seismic exploration and other related remote sensing systems.
