The FDTD modeling of body of revolution

One of major concerns in numerical analyses of electromagnetic scattering properties of body of revolution in the finite difference time(FDTD) method is the FDTD modeling. The main design concept is the surface function a body of revolution can determine the position relationship between any point in space and the body of revolution, and then in accordance with the various vertex of Yee cell and the body of revolution position relationship to determine the position relationship between Yee cell and the body of revolution and the position relationship can be divided into three situations: (1) If the cell's eight vertex locate outside the body of revolution, the cell locates outside of the body; (2) If part vertex locate outside the body of revolution, the cell is on the boundary of the body of revolution; (3) If the eight vertices locate inside the body of revolution, the cell locates inside the body of revolution. Firstly, the subroutine of position relationship between a point and a body of revolution is completed. The subroutine of position relationship between a Yee cell and a body of revolution is completed by using with the subroutine of position relationship between a point and a body of revolution. The program of the FDTD modeling of body of revolution is completed by using with the subroutine of position relationship between a Yee cell and a body of revolution. Frustums of a cone and triconic are body of revolution. In this paper, the FDTD modeling results of frustums of a cone and triconic are given. The results of FDTD modeling are valid. The method of FDTD modeling of body of revolution is suitable for arbitrary body of revolution.
