Applying stage-gate processes in concurrent engineering

In recent years, companies have invested heavily in new management tools and techniques for controlling projects more effectively in a highly complex and dynamic business environment. Two of the very popular techniques are concurrent engineering and stage gate processes. However few companies can implement these techniques just by issuing a policy or management directive. They must link the selected tools or techniques with the business process. This involves careful integration of the new concept with the various physical, informational, managerial, and psychological subsystems of the enterprise and its cultures and values, to minimize the risk of rejection.
