On the theory and design of subharmonically drain pumped microwave MESFET distributed mixers

The performance characteristics of three sections of unbalanced and two sections of unbalanced and two sections of balanced distributed mixer which are subharmonically drain pumped are considered. The optimum operating conditions are found with the help of the nonlinear simulator in Microwave Harmonica Program by using the nonlinear GaAs MESFET model. The conversion gain of /spl plusmn/0.5 dB for unbalanced and /spl plusmn/1 dB for balanced form over the signal frequency band 2-12 GHz with an IF of 70 MHz is obtained.
