Influence of air temperature on flashover along ice surfaces

In the present study, the maximum withstand, the minimum flashover and the 50% withstand voltages of triangular ice samples were determined and compared during ice melting. The influence of the surrounding air temperature on the maximum withstand voltage, the critical leakage current and the time interval between voltage application and flashover occurrence were studied. The results obtained will contribute to a better understanding of the flashover mechanism of ice-covered insulators.
