Understanding patterns of organizational culture: A study in Malaysian R&D institutions

This paper examines the patterns of organizational culture in Malaysian R & D institutions. The study was based on three types of research institutions in Malaysia namely the government research institutes (GRI), private R & D companies (PRC) and universities. Results show that there are some cultural aspects that are amenable to innovation while some others are not. The study would be able to guide the management of respective R & D institutions to identify and inculcate cultural values that will enhance innovation and to gradually abandon those practices that hinder creativity and innovativeness.
