Research on the Design and Control Strategy of Variable Inertia Flywheel in Diesel Generator Unit under Pulsed Load

In the design of one diesel generator unit under pulsed load, variable inertia flywheel(VIF) substitutes for traditional fixed inertia flywheel(FIF). On the basis of FIF's successful design and test in one diesel generator unit under pulsed load, the application of VIF in diesel generator unit under pulsed load is studied deeply. The VIF's inertia calculation method is introduced based on the coupled simulation of GT-POWER and MATLAB firstly. Compared with FIF, VIF has smaller size and better control effects. Then, the different control strategies of VIF's inertia variety are analyzed. Finally, three types of VIF structure are designed conceptually.
