Finite element simulation of electromagnetic fields of a self-decoupling magneto-rheological damper

An innovative simulation method of the magnetic circuit structure of a self-decoupling magneto-rheological (SDMR) damper is presented in the paper by using Multiphysics module of finite element analysis software ANSYS. Interaction between electromagnetic field and permanent magnetic field, as well as magnetic circuit loss in the model is considered. The simulation results indicated that magnetic flux leakage coefficient greatly influenced the results, and it should be included in the model. Parameter studies are also presented. Some factors are discussed and some principles in the simulation are pointed out.
