New approaches to weapon system testing or "Back to the Future"

This paper proposes abandoning the use of multipurpose ATE for "horizontal" support of weapon systems in favour of returning to "vertical" support. An R&D effort is proposed to develop a software "hot mock-up" system for field testing weapon system assemblies.
