The Whole Crankshaft Model for Dynamic Simulation Analysis of the Diesel Engine

Traditional multi-cylinder engine crankshaft stress calculation would generally use simplified continuous beam model, but the accuracy is not high enough. The paper presents a whole dynamic model for analyzing the dynamic behavior of a diesel engine crankshaft by means of three-dimensional FEA. Based on the finite element commercial software ANSYS, an overall three-dimensional model of the four-cylinder diesel engine crankshaft is set up. With taking the second cylinder calculation in doing work process for example, by calculating each neck's loads, simulating the displacement boundary conditions and mechanical conditions of the overall crankshaft, the overall state of stress and deformation of the crankshaft is studied, simultaneously, the fatigue strength and the frequency bands of crankshaft under alternating loads were analyzed. This method provides a valuable basis for the modifications of crankshaft design and the follow-up study of kinetic analysis of the engine.
