Determining the Remaining Strength of Corroded Pipelines with B31G Code and Finite Element Analysis Theory

In order to accurately determine the remaining strength of pipelines with corroded defects, this paper studied the B31G Code and theoretical basis of the finite element analysis. Aiming at piping pressure of the same pipeline with corroded defect, we make direct calculation by B31G Code and Improved B31G ; according to the corroded defect size and piping internal pressure, mechanical model is set up to carry out simulation analysis and calculate with finite element analysis software, ANSYS. Compared B31G results with ANSYS finite element analysis simulation, it can be concluded that finite element analysis method can overcome the conservative of B31G Code.
