Novel approach for generating an electrochemically active film with amplification, switching and diode-like behavior

Many efforts in molecular electronics have been made to mimic the existing electronic function using organic molecules like a molecular wire, a molecular diode and a molecular switch [1, 2]. Among them, molecular diode has been focuse because a diode, or current rectifier is an important component in two-terminal device that allows an electronc current to flow in one direction, but blocks it in the opposite directon [1, 2]. One approach to design a molecular diode is to build a diode using single molecules. The molecular diode consisted of two organic molecules to act as an electron donor and acceptor [1]. The other approach is to generate the functionalized film on the device [3, 4]. The interface is covered with an organic layer of activated chemical moieties. The current is rectified by the interaction between chemical moieties on films and electroactive species in solution.
