An internally amplified signal SOI nano-bridge biosensor for electrical detection of DNA hybridization

Despite all technical improvements in semiconductor industry, technology development in biomedicine still requires a lot of improvement to satisfy the current need. Impedance biosensors are a class of electrical biosensors that show promise for point-of-care and disease discovery due to real time, low cost, ease of miniaturization and label-free operation. This paper outlines how the modulation of impedance in a novel silicon nano-bridge (nanowire) biosensor can be used in characterizing biochemical species such as an antibodies/antigens or for detection of a particular DNA sequence hybridization.
