Use of zero vs. non-zero thickness diffracting obstacles in radio channel modelling

An explicit solution to the problem of multiple diffraction over obstacles, simulating the mobile radio environment is presented. A comparison is made between diffraction over a knife-edge and a finite thickness obstacle. The mathematical solution is based on the path-integral technique, whose predictions are compared with experimental measurements. The agreement between the asymptotic path-integral technique with the measurements is excellent for the two and three dimensional problems considered.
